GTN Youth
Promotion of Agri-Business/ entrepreneurial Agriculture
Through entrepreneurial agriculture, GTN fosters economic development among the youth by enhancing food security, addressing unemployment among young people, and promoting a sustainable rural economy. The objectives of GTN include:
- Education and training on modern agricultural practices
- Facilitating access to resources such as grants, equipment et al.
- Connecting young entrepreneurs to mentors and other agricultural support networks
- Advocacy and policy support – advocating for farmers’ rights at the government level.
- Promotion of sustainable agriculture for environmental conservation.
Innovation and Technical Skills Training
GTN core focus is increased youth employment in urban and rural areas We do this through advocating for development of technical skills such as engineering, plumbing and computer skills among the youth. We also conduct workshops and seminars on innovation, creativity, and problem – solving to encourage entrepreneurial thinking. Some other areas we focus on are:
- Resource mobilization for training centers
- Mentorship and career guidance to post secondary school students
- Promoting access to resources to youthful entrepreneurs.
- Conducting research and development
Capacity Building and Livelihoods
GTN works with youth and self help groups to empower the livelihoods through the activities they currently undertake. We have youths groups in catering, tent and chairs hiring, transport industry, subsistence farming, table banking and loaning opportunities to their members. GTN works with these groups to empower the activities they undertake through financial management training, access to resources and leadership trainings. GTN also partners with other organizations for trainings.
Local-based Climate-preneurship
GTN focal areas under climate change and environmental conservation is driven by the young men and women. Some of the GTN focus areas are heavily impacted by lake water backflow that has displaced residents from their settlements. These are all impacts of climate change that GTN Youth seeks to curb through environmental conservation. Some of the initiavitives we shall undertake are:
- Education and training
- Sustainable environmental practices
- Community projects – tree planting events, reforestation events, urban gardening.
Governance and Democratic Development
GTN objective is to enlighten the youth on the essence of participation in governance and the economic development. Youth inclusion in the formal policy and decision-making processes across county government operations and structures is a key component of youth empowerment.
