GTN Women

Promotion of Sustainable Agriculture

Innovation and Vocational Skills Training
GTN’s goal is to empower women through a tailored, skilled-based approach. We work with other institutions to facilitate access to vocational training programs that can equip women with practical skills such as sewing, handicrafts, sustainable agriculture, and basic IT literacy. These skills enable women to generate income, become financially independent, and contribute to their households’ and communities’ economic stability.
GTN also works with other institutions in fostering innovative practices and tools, such as modern agricultural techniques, eco-friendly production methods, and digital platforms for market access.

Capacity Building and Impacting Livelihoods
GTN agenda for women involves providing them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to improve their capabilities and achieve sustainable development. We empower women through training in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, and sustainable agricultural practices. By enhancing their skills and confidence, women can take on leadership roles and make informed decisions that benefit their families and communities.
GTN also facilitates access to microloans, seeds, tools, and technology. We also can help our women start or expand their small businesses. These businesses can range from handicrafts and tailoring to small-scale farming and local trade. This economic empowerment not only improves their financial independence but also stimulates the local economy, creating jobs and increasing overall village prosperity.

Gender Equality and Inclusion
GTN members consist of women groups that provide support, share resources, and advocate for their members’ needs. Through the leadership of these groups, GTN fosters for a balanced ad fair society where women have the same opportunities, rights and responsibilities as men. GTN also advocates for the inclusion of women in all aspects of community life, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions are valued.
By championing gender equality and inclusion, GTN creates a more equitable and prosperous village, where everyone has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to sustainable development.

Environmental Conservation and Climate Action
GTN’s fifth focal area is environmental conservation and climate action. We advocate for local climate change action at the grassroots level by engaging the community in developing strategies to promote local food production, reduce carbon footprint, and encourage sustainable agricultural practices. We also advocate for the use of renewable energy, the re-use of plastics to avoid environmental degradation, and even the use of cement bags in the creation of tree seedlings.
GTN also trains the women on climate-smart agriculture through workshops, seminars, and demo farm visits. Some of the key areas that GTN trains in are organic farming, composting, and permaculture.
