GTN,under the children’s umbrella, coordinates with different schools across the region to offer structured mentorship sessions that foster growth, resilience, and academic success. During the sessions, students are paired with mentors who offer academic, personal, and psychological support. The mentors adopt a group of students under a project dubbed “Adopta Child.”

School-based Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition

GTN prioritizes the health and sanitation of pupils and students, creating a safe and supportive learning environment. GTN does this through health education, awareness, community engagement, and encouraging behavioral change. GTN’s vision is to introduce GTN Clinics that will support the provision of health services in schools and improve sanitation facilities such as restrooms, handwashing stations, and drinking water facilities.

Curbing water-borne diseases that are a menace in these areas.

GTN runs seminars and workshops in schools and the community that cover topics on puberty, sexual health, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and healthy relationships. GTN also donates sanitary towels to underprivileged teenagers in vulnerable situations. GTNs objective is to end period myths/taboos and to educate girls on menstrual hygiene.

GTN solar lamp aided project dubbed "Edu - Solar" by Grassroots Transforming Network.

Solar-Light Aided Learning

GTN’s focus areas have inadequate lighting and unreliable electricity, significantly affecting the children’s ability to study and perform academically. GTN aims to provide solar lamps to students from vulnerable families to aid their learning after darkness. Solar lighting is also a sustainable and renewable energy source, reducing reliance on harmful kerosene lamps and decreasing carbon footprints. The project will be named “EDU – SOLAR”.

School - Focused  Climate Champions

GTN’s focus area is one of the regions in the country that have experienced the devastating effects of climate change and environmental degradation. GTN, through its result area 5, “ Local Climate and Environment Actions,” is advocating for environmental conservation and restoration of degraded lands. It does this through school workshops, creating environment and agriculture associations, devising innovative competitions on environmental change, and fostering a circular economy.
