Meet The Team

Steve Misiga Oredo
Founder and Executive Director
Steve Misiga Oredo is the executive director of Grassroots Transforming Network ( GTN Kenya). Steve was born and raised in a community empowerment environment. He was inspired by her mother’s work in initiating community-impacting projects that transformed the lives of people in the society. He and other like-minded young visionary leaders founded GTN where he currently channels his enthusiasm and dedication to community service by leading the GTN Team.
Steve’s DNA is infused with a profound sense of community service, and his passion lies in empowering the most vulnerable. His work is not just a job but a cherished commitment to his community’s socio-economic development. He is a staunch advocate for a progressive society that is self-reliant economically.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Actuarial Science from Moi university and a diploma in project management, amongst other certifications. He is currently pursuing a masters in Finance from Nairobi University.
Edwin Ochola
Co - Founder and Director of Programs and Partnerships
Edwin Ochola is an experienced leader in community development, with a passion for empowering individuals and communities to reach their full potential. With 8 years of experience in Environmental Planning and Community Development, he has dedicated his career to creating positive social change.
As the Director of Programs and Partnerships at GTN, Edwin oversees the development and implementation of programs that address the needs of children, youth, women, persons with disabilities, and sports enthusiasts. He is deeply committed to fostering collaborations and partnerships that maximize the impact of GTN’s work and promote sustainable development.
Edwin holds a Degree in Environmental Planning and Management from Kenyatta University and Multiple WHO Certifications.
With additional expertise in corporate communications, youth empowerment advocacy, and governance strategy, Edwin brings a holistic approach to his role, ensuring that GTN’s programs are effectively designed and implemented to create lasting impact.


Mercy Ombogo
Director of Finance
Mercy is a trained teacher with an inclination toward financial management. She is the head of finance at GTN and a staunch champion of girlchild and women empowerment. She is also the team lead of GTN Children.
At GTN Kenya, Mercy oversees all financial activities, including budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic planning. Her expertise lies in aligning financial strategies with the organization’s mission to empower women and girls through education, advocacy, and community-based initiatives.
Mercy’s passion for community service is evident in her extensive work on issues facing the girl child and women in society. She has successfully led numerous programs to improve educational opportunities, provide health services, and foster economic independence for women.
Mercy is also an active member of several professional associations and doesn’t hesitate to speak on topics related to nonprofit finance, women’s empowerment, and community development.
